Collector Entity Guide

Control routes with Collector's community-documented vine traps, summoned pressure, teleport anchors, targeting choices, and survivor counters.

Collector is a community-documented trapper/controller entity. Instead of winning every chase through raw speed, Collector prepares routes, pressures survivors with summoned help, and returns to important areas through placed anchors. Official badge descriptions connect Collector to BLOOD IN THE SNOW and BROKEN SKY, confirming the character across multiple prototype milestones.

Community pages call the reported tools Vinestaff, Zombie Staff, and Astral Cloak of Transportation. These names and roles provide a useful strategy model, but exact trap limits, summons, targeting, teleport rules, damage, and cooldowns need confirmation in the current client.

Build a network, not a pile

Place traps where survivor decisions narrow: just after a corner, beside an objective approach, or along the safe side of a junction. Several traps in one visible patch can be avoided together. A network across connected routes gives information and forces repeated choices.

Learn which map surfaces accept the current placement and how visible the vine is from each direction. Do not hide it so well that you cannot capitalize when it triggers. The distance between your patrol route and the trap matters as much as the trap itself.

Role

Community-described trapper/controller using gear-based route denial and summons.

Best space

Connected junctions where a vine removes one exit and Collector pressures the other.

Main risk

Preparing abandoned areas or chasing so far that no trap, summon, or anchor can contribute.

Live check

Confirm placement limits, trap immunity, summon targeting, teleport anchors, effects, and cooldowns.

Place Vinestaff for a follow-up

Community documentation describes vine traps that restrict movement, apply a status, and alert Collector. Place one where you can reach it or where triggering it protects a valuable area. A trap across the map may provide information but no hit. A trap directly in front of a survivor is a placement animation they can simply leave.

Use corners and visual clutter without making the trap unfair to your own pathing. If the current build limits simultaneous vines, replace the least useful location as the round moves. Watch whether survivors gain brief protection after one trigger; if so, stacking vines on the same path wastes capacity.

When a vine catches someone, approach from the exit they would prefer after release. Do not automatically swing at the earliest possible frame if that destroys control without securing value. Verify the live interaction, because community documentation notes special release and damage behavior that can change.

Send summons toward useful pressure

The reported Zombie Staff creates helpers that pursue survivors, and recent documentation includes targeting options. Choose a target rule that supports your plan. Nearest may provide immediate pressure; low health may force a vulnerable player away; following Collector may protect your approach. The current live menu determines which choices actually exist.

Summons are most valuable when the survivor must also read a trap or Collector’s angle. Sending them through empty space with no follow-up allows easy avoidance or destruction. Observe whether current stuns remove them and whether they vanish after a hit or timer. Do not chase the summon itself; use the reaction to predict the human player’s route.

Treat teleport anchors as map control

Community descriptions of Astral Cloak of Transportation involve placed waypoints and a return or teleport action. Put anchors near future value, not only where value existed thirty seconds ago. A central junction and an objective-side route can let Collector answer rotations without walking the entire map.

Before teleporting, consider what survivors will see or hear and where the arrival leaves you. If the live effect rewards arriving near a target or penalizes an empty destination, gather information first. Do not use the teleport merely because it is ready; preserve it for a route change that ordinary movement cannot match.

After the round shifts, update anchors. A forgotten waypoint can pull you away from every active survivor. Test placement, replacement, destination selection, and collision in safety before relying on it mid-chase.

Combine control tools

A simple Collector sequence is: prepare a vine at one exit, pressure from the opposite side, and use summons to shorten the survivor’s decision time. Keep the teleport available to reconnect if the chase rotates away. This is a route plan, not a guaranteed combo.

Avoid spending all tools on one survivor who has already reached open space. Return to the trap network and look for the rest of the team. Controller value increases when survivors must move through prepared areas; it falls during a long chase across unprepared ground.

Survivor counterplay

Against Collector, scan corners and narrow approaches before committing. Once you identify a trap, choose a different route or trigger it only with a team plan and known escape. Avoid running the same safe-looking corridor repeatedly. Collector benefits from predictable movement.

When summons appear, separate enough that one route does not pressure the whole team. Learn whether the live version lets survivor abilities remove them. Watch for teleport setup and assume a previously empty area can become dangerous quickly. If Collector leaves the prepared zone, use that time to rotate rather than challenging every trap.

Practice and update checks

Begin with three meaningful locations rather than filling the whole placement limit. Record which one triggers and whether you can respond. In another round, use one targeting mode and observe survivor movement. Then create two teleport anchors with clearly different purposes.

After an update, confirm the live trap cap, placement replacement, summon lifetime, and teleport behavior. Compare Collector with Stalker when you want ambush from the character rather than persistent setup, or KillerKyle for a more direct all-round plan.

Verification notes

  • Official: BLOOD IN THE SNOW and BROKEN SKY badge descriptions name Collector in the prototype build history.
  • Community corroborated: Collector is a trapper/controller associated with vine traps, summoned pressure, and teleport waypoints.
  • Needs in-game testing: current unlock details, fog or passive effects, trap cap and immunity, summon count and targeting, anchor rules, status effects, damage, controls, and cooldowns.
